The Annual Acworth Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny is making his way to Acworth and this year he is making a different
stop! The Annual Acworth Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt will be held on
Saturday, March 27, starting at 9:45 a.m. at the Acworth Sports Complex located at
4000 South Main Street in Acworth. The Easter Bunny will be bringing over 30,000 eggs
this year filled with candy and prizes. Like last year a portion of the eggs will be dropped
from a helicopter prior to the start of the hunt!

Town Hall Meeting
The City of Acworth will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting with various Homeowners Associations and other neighborhoods on Wednesday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (Board Room). The purpose of this meeting is to provide residents with an update and the status of the Acworth community. Mayor Allegood will be sharing some of the goals and objectives from the 2010 State of the City presentation held in January. There will also be updates from City departments as it relate to the 2010 Census, Community/Economic Development and other interesting news! We hope you will be able to attend this informative meeting or send a representative from your neighborhood. All city residents are welcome to attend.
Public Works - Every Drop Counts
Did you know that an American home can waste, on average, more than 10,000 gallons of water every year due to running toilets, dripping faucets, and other household leaks?
Nationwide, more than 1 trillion gallons of water leak from U.S. homes each year. That's why WaterSense is promoting Fix a Leak Week from March 15 to 21, 2010, to remind Americans to check their plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks.

Acworth Police Department - "Jail and Bail" Fundraising Event
"On Thursday April 1st, 2010 the Acworth Police Dept. will be hosting a
"Jail and Bail" fundraising event to benefit Georgia Special Olympics.
During this time Citizens will be able to apply for a "warrant" to have
an individual "arrested" by the Acworth Police Department and taken
to "Jail." The subject of the warrant will be notified in advance of the
impending warrant and be given the opportunity to participate by
"posting bail". They will also be given flyers in advance to distribute to
their friends to attempt to raise their "bail" in advance. Individuals
that may not be able to leave their place of business or residence but
would still like to participate will be given the opportunity to "Bribe"
the officer who comes to "arrest" them in order to not go to jail.
The event will take place on April 1st from 7 am to 8pm and all
"arrestees" will be taken to the "Old Acworth Jail" located at 4357
Senator Russell Ave in Acworth. Upon arrival the "arrestees" will be
booked in and have their "mug shot" photo taken as a souvenir. They
will also have to stand before a "judge" and answer to their "charges".
Warrant applications will be available at the Acworth Police
Department located at 4400 Acworth Industrial Dr. The fee for a
warrant application will be $ 50.00 and must be paid in advance. The
subject who is "arrested" will also have a "bail" of $50.00. All "Bribes"
must also be at least $50.00 to be considered.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Georgia Special
Olympics Foundation.

Georgia Teens Ride with P.R.I.D.E.
This is a FREE, two-hour course designed to help parents and their new teen drivers, ages 14-16, learn what they need to do during the 40 hours of supervised practice driving time (20 hours of supervised practice driving time is required, if the teen successfully completes driver’s education).
This is a program that addresses driver attitude, knowledge and behavior, rather than a technical hands-on
