Acworth 150th Commemorative Book

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen appointed a committee of long-time Acworth residents to assist in the planning of the City’s Sesquicentennial Celebrations thorough out the year. A subcommittee, Alderman Butch Price, Mrs. Abbie Parks and Mrs. Shirley Walker were inspired to go beyond event planning and dedicated their cold winter months to researching Acworth’s historical facts and collecting reminiscent stories from Acworth residents to write a book commemorating Acworth’s past 150 years. Thrilled at an opportunity to educate the public about Acworth’s history, the Acworth Historic Preservation Commission financially supported the printing of the book

A book release party was held on Sunday, June 6th at the Acworth Beach House at which time the three co-authors autographed everyone’s books upon purchase. An overwhelming number of community folks gathered to buy the book and reminisce about the “good old days” in Acworth and enjoy a piece of Acworth birthday cake. The book is available for purchase at Acworth City Hall for $7.50. For more information, call 770.974.3112
