Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
The City of Acworth will be hosting the second Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration on Monday, January 20, 2013. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall at and feature guests speakers including Mayor Tommy Allegood and other figures from the local community. Immediately following the ceremony, the Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program will host their 5th Annual MLK Day of Service at the historic Roberts School Community and Education Center. The Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program provides middle and high school students service learning projects in additional to educational assistance and recreational activities throughout the year. Come take part in this special day! Participants will spend time picking up litter and restoring life to the Doug Davis Children’s Garden by the Robert School Community and Education Center.
Acworth Baseball - Spring 2014 Season
The Acworth Baseball Association is beginning online registration for the 2014 Spring Baseball Season at www.acworthbaseball.org. Acworth Baseball provides a safe, challenging and most of all, fun instructional and competitive baseball experience for boys and girls, ages 4 to 18. The goal is to instill in the children of this community the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and a sense of teamwork so that they may become strong, healthy, well adjusted members of the community.
Onsite Registrations will be held at Roberts School in Acworth on Saturday, January 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Fees vary depending on the age of the participant. All registration fees, age group information, and additional information are posted at www.acworthbaseball.org.

Acworth Youth Basketball 2013 Season
North Cobb High School Warrior Way 5K
North Cobb High School’s Cross Country Team held the Warrior Way 5K Run on September 21, 2013 in the neighborhood surrounding Lake Acworth and Cauble Park. The event had approximately 500 participants who came out to support the Cross Country Team in this annual fundraiser. North Cobb High School traditionally gives back 20% of the proceeds to the City of Acworth for improvements to the park.
Representatives from North Cobb High School's Cross Country Team attended the council meeting on Thursday, December 5 to present the proceed check to the City of Acworth in the amount of $1,690.00. We appreciate this contribution and are excited to host this event again in 2014!
