Mr. Johnson received a plaque and two baseball jerseys, one of which was framed for wall mounting.  Mr. Johnson was also presented with a proclamation by Mayor Tommy Allegood on behalf of the Board of Aldermen in honor of his contribution to Black History Month.  Mayor Allegood was reminded of a previous comment made by Mr. Johnson…“This city was always color blind, even when I was growing up.”  “The people here are what make this city great.”  Also, in attendance for the presentation were some of the original baseball players from the group organized in 1963.

Mayor Tommy Allegood presented a proclamation on behalf of the Board of Aldermen in recognition of the 102nd Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America Week, February 5 – 11.  Members of Troop 116 were present along with scout masters David Muller and David Peterson.  Mayor Allegood also recognized the scouts for their 73 years of service to the community. The Scouts plan to continue their service tradition this year with a list of projects to include the Lake Allatoona clean up.
