Aldermen Recognize Individuals at April 19 Meeting

Mayor Tommy Allegood performed the swearing-in of Acworth Chief of Police G. Wayne Dennard, Jr. at the April 19 Regular Meeting. In attendance for the ceremony were a host of family members, police officers, including outgoing Chief of Police Michael Wilkie, elected officials and staff from the cities of Kennesaw and Marietta, and a host of Acworth citizens and staff. Chief Wilkie performed the "pinning" of incoming Chief of Police Wayne Dennard, along with family members who pinned his new collar eagles. Chief Dennard gave his speech before the public, which credited his success and that of the police department and city to God.

Mayor Tommy Allegood recognized Wayne Brown, Captain of the John Collins Chapter Sons of the American Revolution and members from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Mayor Allegood presented the annual Patriots' Day Proclamation. Mr. Brown thanked the Mayor and Board for recognizing Patriot's Day, which April 19th marks the actual day our country was established.
