Aldermen Recognize Individual - October 18th Meeting
Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Weatherford acknowledged and presented the annual proclamation in recognition of Red Ribbon Week, October 23 - 31, 2012 to members of the Young Marines, CPL Micenna Brooks of the Etowah Valley unit and CPL Jessica Allen, LCPL Angela Sanfrantello and Cameron Ebelhar of the Metro Atlanta Unit. The youth were not only present to represent their respective units for this annual event, but to honor Enriquee “Kiki” Camarena, a drug enforcement administration agent killed in the line of duty for his efforts to make a difference in the war against drugs. Mayor Pro-Tem Weatherford also presented a copy of the proclamation to Chief Wayne Dennard and members of the Acworth Police Department. Chief Dennard introduced Pastor Lee Gamble as the new Police Chaplain from Summit Baptist Church who was also in attendance with the police department for the presentation.
Alderman Tim Houston acknowledged Former Mayor Mike Donahoo and presented a resolution expressing unanimous support for preserving the current location of the historic Dobbins Air Reserve Base Chapel. Mr. Donahoo advised on the history and different uses for the 63 year old chapel and thanked the City of Acworth for their support.
Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Weatherford acknowledged and presented the annual proclamation in recognition of Diaper Day to Nordaun Cornelius of the Cobb Diaper Day Committee. Ms. Cornelius advised on efforts to collect 100,000 diapers at the Marietta Square on October 25, which will provide a seven month supply for low-income families.
