Aldermen Recognize Individual - January 17th Meeting
Mayor Tommy Allegood presented proclamations in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 21, 2013 to Reverend Leela Waller of Bethel AME and Reverend Frank Johnson of Zion Hill Baptist Church. For the first time on January 21, the City will have a special celebration at 10 a.m. at City Hall in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Aldermen Bob Weatherford and Butch Price, along with Parks and Recreation Director James Albright presented a proclamation proclaiming January 17, 2013 as “Dana Long Day” in recognition of Ms. Long’s volunteer services to the Acworth Baseball Association and for being awarded the 2012 GRPA State Volunteer of the Year. Ms. Long’s family was also in attendance and recognized during the presentation.
Alderman Gene Pugliese acknowledged members of the DDA and recognized David Arnold and Kenny Parrot for their service on the Acworth Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Mr. Arnold was awarded a plaque for three years of volunteer services, as well as Mr. Parrot for his
years of service to the DDA.
Mayor Tommy Allegood recognized members of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) for their contributions to the _Dickens of a Christmas Y’all_ Festivities that took place in December 2012. Also, recognized were students from North Cobb High School who participated
as carolers for the event.
