Adult Flag Football Registration
The students of the Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program
have started a campaign to collect items to assist in relief efforts for the
country of Haiti as they recover from January's devastating earthquake. It
is estimated that over half of the Haiti's population is now homeless and
over one hundred thousand people have lost their lives in this catastrophic
event. Any help is welcomed to collect the following new items listed below;
due to certain limitations liquid soaps and shampoos can not be accepted:

Baby wipes or wet wipes
Non-liquid soap
Wash Cloths
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Combs and brushes

Items may be dropped of the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department
4762 Logan Rd. or Acworth City Hall 4415 Senator Russell Ave. in Acworth.
For more information please contact Frank White at the Acworth Parks and
Recreation office at (770) 917-1234.

On Friday, February 12, the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department
is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive from 12:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. at the
Acworth Beach House located in Cauble Park. The Acworth Beach
House is located at 2293 Beach Street Acworth, GA 30101.

Because of the recent inclement weather and the cancellation of
several blood drives throughout the state, blood supplies have
dropped to emergency levels, according to the American Red Cross.

At optimal levels, the Red Cross has a five-day supply of blood. At
emergency levels, the Red Cross only has a two-day supply or lower.
The Red Cross is the nation's largest blood provider, and supplies
more than 120 hospitals and heath care facilities throughout the state.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Jeff Chase in
the Parks and Recreation Office at 770-917-1234 or email at
jchase@acworth.org.

Red Cross Blood Drive
Vinny Loccisano, 10 year old son of David and Sheila
Loccisano, will be representing Acworth in the NBA's
National Dribble Dish and Swish competition that will be
held in Dallas, Texas during the NBA All Star weekend
(February 11 - 14). Vinny participates in the Acworth
Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball League. He entered
the local Dribble, Dish and Swish competition held in
December. Vinny's time from the local competition was
good enough to advance him to the regional competition

National Finalist
Vinny's parents received word earlier this month that he had advanced to
the national competition. Vinny will be competing against one other boy in
his age group. The competition sponsor is sending Vinny and his dad to
Dallas (all expenses paid). In addition to competing for the top spot in his
age group, Vinny and his dad will have tickets to all of the NBA All Star
activities.

Congratulations Vinny Loccisano! Good Luck from the City of Acworth.

held in Atlanta. At that competition Vinny again had the best time in his
age group and was eligible for a spot at the national competition.
