On Friday, February 12, the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive from 12:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. at the Acworth Beach House located in Cauble Park. The Acworth Beach House is located at 2293 Beach Street Acworth, GA 30101. Because of the recent inclement weather and the cancellation of several blood drives throughout the state, blood supplies have dropped to emergency levels, according to the American Red Cross. At optimal levels, the Red Cross has a five-day supply of blood. At emergency levels, the Red Cross only has a two-day supply or lower. The Red Cross is the nation's largest blood provider, and supplies more than 120 hospitals and heath care facilities throughout the state. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Jeff Chase in the Parks and Recreation Office at 770-917-1234 or email at jchase@acworth.org. |

National Finalist |
Vinny's parents received word earlier this month that he had advanced to the national competition. Vinny will be competing against one other boy in his age group. The competition sponsor is sending Vinny and his dad to Dallas (all expenses paid). In addition to competing for the top spot in his age group, Vinny and his dad will have tickets to all of the NBA All Star activities. Congratulations Vinny Loccisano!
