Classic Car Cruises are held on the fifth Saturday of months that have a fifth Saturday during the Spring, Fall and Summer months. Main Street in downtown Acworth is lined with classic cars from days gone by and some of today's best looking cars. Check out the current year's calendar of events to see what months will have a Classic Car Show. The shows begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. No entry fee is required, but a $1 donation to a local charity is requested to enter the cruise. Dad's and their daughters between the ages of five and twelve enjoy a special night of dancing and fun. Every year there is a different theme. The event is held the Saturday before Valentine's Day each year in the North Cobb High School Cafeteria. There is a D.J., a professional photographer on hand, dance contests, food and refreshments. The Acworth Tree Commission and the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department sponsor an Arbor Day Poster Contest at McCall Primary and Acworth Intermediate each year. The children design posters according to the specific year's theme. The winners of the poster contest are recognized at the first council meeting in February. The Hunt is open to children under the age of twelve. Children are divided into three age groups to hunt more than 10,000 eggs that are hidden! The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and is over by 10:04 a.m., so don't be late! Pictures can be taken with the Easter Bunny immediately following the hunt. The Easter Egg Hunt is held two Saturday's before Easter Sunday each year and is held at Cauble Park. No registration is necessary, the event is free, just show up to the park. Enjoy a day of excitement with kite flying, family games, fishing, and other activities. Bring your fishing pole, a picnic, a blanket, and a kite. Games and activities are set up for families to come out and enjoy. It's a great event to just come out with the family and relax. Downtown merchants on Main Street from Academy south to Park Street, merchants on Senator Russell Avenue and Lemon Street stay open until 9 p.m. or later on the First Friday of every month. Veterans and current servicemen give their comments on what the flag means to them. Come out to Logan Farm Park for a spooky good time. The event is held the Saturday before Halloween each year. For a minimal charge the each child can participate in many different games and activities that they can win candy and prizes. There is also a costume contest that is broken up into different age groups. Parking is limited. Shuttles run from Roberts School and the corner of Cherokee Street and Northside Drive. Each year the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department and the Acworth Business Association partner to host the Summer Concert and Movie Series at Cauble Park. The series consists of two concerts and on movie a year. The first concert of the year is held the second Saturday in June and the second concert is held on July 4, each year. The movie night is typically held in late August. Admission to the concerts are free to the general public. Shuttles are available in the dowtown area to take you down to the Beach. Bring the family to see Santa arrive in Downtown Acworth and kick off the Christmas season. The event is held the first Friday of each month. Enjoy pictures with Santa, lighting of the downtown Christmas tree, live music, a reading of The Night Before Christmas by the Mayor and much more! Volunteers come out each year and help remove litter and debris from the shores of the lake. The event is sponsored by the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department, the Acworth Lake Authority, and the Lake Allatoona Preservation Authority. This is a great project for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, community groups and anyone who wants to help keep Lake Acworth clean. This is part of the Great Lake Allatoona clean up.
