Brandon D. Douglas has been the Assistant City Manager/Economic Development Director of Acworth Georgia since March 2007. Before moving to Acworth, Mr. Douglas served as a Community Development Planner for the Heart of Georgia Regional Development Center along with prior experience in the private sector. Mr. Douglas earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Georgia College and State University.

Mr. Douglas is an active member in the Acworth Business Association, a 2009 graduate of Leadership Cobb and a 2007 graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development. He currently serves on the Acworth Business Association Board of Directors and the Pickett’s Mill Elementary Foundation Board of Directors. He is also a member of the International City/County Management Association, the Georgia City/County Managers Association, and the Georgia Economic Developers Association.

Mr. Douglas is active in church and is an outdoor enthusiast. He also enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Douglas has also been involved in coaching in the Horizon League.

Mr. Douglas is proud to serve the citizens of Acworth. He believes the City of Acworth is in a great position to experience continued economic growth. The quality development that has and continues to occur throughout the community can be attributed to the employees throughout all city departments, the business community, and civic groups for their tireless efforts towards ensuring the strength of the community does not hinge on one component but from “all the spokes on the wheel” turning in the right direction.


The Assistant City Manager/Economic Development Director assists in planning and administering city services and the administrative support for economic development and the redevelopment for the City of Acworth. He also serves as Acting City Manager in the absence of the City Manager.

Some of the Assistant City Manager/Economic Development Director's major responsibilities are as follow:

  • Supervises research projects to resolve operational problems, and develops recommendations on major city policy/programming matters.
  • Researches, writes and coordinates grants.
  • Formulates and manages the City's economic development and redevelopment activities and projects.
  • Develops long-range comprehensive plans for Economic Development.
