Authority manages the process of
Downtown's economic development while preserving and promoting its
Downtown Heritage.STRUCTURE AND ACTIVITIES The Acworth DDA is
managed by a nine member Board. The members are appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for
staggered terms of five years. Board Members must be:

Taxpayers residing in the City of Acworth

B.) Owners or operators of businesses located in the DDA district
holding a valid Acworth Business License

C.) Owners of real
property located within the DDA district

D.) Persons having a
combination of the qualification specified above The DDA has four standing committees:The Promotions and Marketing Committee is responsible for marketing downtown’s unique
unique shoppers, investors, new businesses and tourists. Effective promotions create a positive image for
the downtown with retail promotions, special events and ongoing programs that continue to build positive
perceptions of downtown Acworth.The Design Committee works on improving building renovation work on streetscape improvements and have created a Sign
Task Force sub committee to help develop and regulate sign
improvements. The Design Committee also plays an active
role in planning and zoning regulation review for comparison with
Downtown revitalization.The Organization Committee works to build consensus and
cooperation between groups that play a role in the DDA district.The Economic Restructuring Committee explores creative ways to
strengthen the economic base while diversifying it. The DDA
can to look for ways to expand the economy and recruit new
businesses with new business incentives and implementation of the
Acworth Business Recruitment Package.The Acworth Downtown Development Authority 2008 Board Members are:

The DDA meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
