Office of Training & Personnel
The goal of the Acworth Police Department’s Office of Training & Personnel is to achieve the highest levels of excellence and professionalism by leading the way with advanced education, realistic training, and tactically sound methodologies. We will strive to develop our officers both mentally and physically, so as to ensure the safety and security not only of each officer, but for the citizens, merchants and visitors of the City of Acworth as well.
Lieutenant Tony Bailey oversees the Office of Training & Personnel. He is a graduate of the Command College Professional Management Program, as well as a state certified Senior Training Instructor. Lt Bailey is a specialized instructor in firearms, tactical rifle, emergency medical, hazardous materials and fire safety. Lt Bailey teaches numerous courses for the regional police academy and holds a Georgia license as an EMT-Intermediate.
The Office of Training & Personnel oversees the recruitment of all police personnel & the Field Training Officer Program. The Training Office is responsible for the assessment of the department’s training needs, and the development and implementation of structured programs to meet those needs.
The Acworth Police Department has a well-rounded staff of instructor’s who complement the Office of Training and Personnel. Their broad expertise includes general instruction, speed detection, firearms, criminal investigations, defensive tactics, DUI detection and standardized field sobriety testing.
