Sanitation Division Sanitation has three different services:- Household Garbage Collection
- Yard Waste/ Dry Item
- Large Item Collection

Yard Waste / Dry Item CollectionCollected separate from household garbage is yard waste, which consists of grass clippings, leaves, small limbs and light construction debris. Grass clippings and leaves are to be bagged and weigh no more than 50 lbs. Limbs are to be no greater than 4 feet in length, no greater than 4 inches in diameter and tied in bundles weighing no more than 50 lbs. Light remodeling debris weighing no more than 50 lbs. from projects performed by homeowners only. In no case does the City collect yard debris or construction debris left behind by contractors. Dry Items are collected along with yard waste and consists of miscellaneous household items weighing less than 50 lbs. other than household garbage (lamps, small appliances, clothes, cardboard, misc. items from closet & garage cleanouts etc…) Note: The City does not collect dirt, rock, bricks, cinder blocks, concrete etc…
Large Item CollectionLarge items are only collected weekly (on Fridays only) provided prior arrangements have been made through Acworth Utilities @ (770) 917-8903. Large items consists of appliances and items weighing over 50 lbs. provided the item is not too large to be safely handled by the collection crew. Note: Appliances containing refrigerant must have refrigerant withdrawn and properly tagged by a certified technician before collection.
