Title II & Title VI Notice

Title II of the "Americans with Disabilities Accessibility Act" (ADA) is the title that applies to public entities like state and city governments. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 is divided into a number of titles. Title II requires nondiscrimination on the basis of disability, in state and local government services. These "public entities" - including departments, agencies, or other instrumentalities - are required to comply with the ADA.

Title VI states that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefit of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any of our programs or activities.

The City of Acworth hereby gives public notice that it is the policy of the City of Acworth to assure full compliance with both Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities.

Any person who believes they have been subjected to unlawful discriminatory practice under Title II or Title VI has a right to file a formal complaint. The complaint must be filed in writing with the City of Acworth, Human Resources Office, within 180 days from the date of the alleged discriminatory act or upon notice of the discriminatory act. The Complaint Form may also be obtained from the Human Resources Office by calling 678-801-4021.
